Words and photos you can hold

Ink Hug is an online shop for personalized pillows and blankets. We print names, dates, short messages and photos onto throw pillows, pillow covers, fleece throws and sherpa-backed blankets, and we ship them free to the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Our name says what we do: the ink is your message, and the hug is the thing someone wraps around themselves or squeezes on the sofa.

Ink Hug is built around a simple observation. The gifts people keep using are rarely the clever ones. They are the soft ones that sit in the same corner of the living room for years: the pillow with the grandkids on it, the blanket that comes out every winter, the cover with a wedding date that gets washed and put back on. Those things become part of a home. Putting a personal message on them makes them part of a family story too.

This page explains what we sell, how an order works, what we promise and what we do not claim. If you have a question that is not answered here, write to support@inkhug.shop and we will reply within 24 hours on business days.

What we make

Our range is deliberately small, so we can explain every option clearly and keep the ordering process simple. Everything falls into two families.

Pillows

  • Photo pillows carry one favorite picture, or a few, across the front. They suit couples, grandparents, new parents and anyone who has a photo they love looking at.
  • Name and date pillows keep the design to words: a baby’s name and birth date, two names and a wedding day, a family surname, or a short line that means something to the people involved.
  • Pillow covers are the printed case with a zipper, ready to slip over an insert you already own. They are light to send and easy to wash.

Blankets

  • Fleece blankets are light, smooth throws for the sofa, the car or a picnic. They are a good canvas for a photo collage.
  • Sherpa blankets have a printed front and a thick, curly back. They feel heavier and warmer, which makes them a favorite for grandparents and for cold evenings.

We also group our pieces by who they are for and what they mark: gifts for her, gifts for him, gifts for kids, pet lover gifts and memorial keepsakes. Those collections help when you know the person but not yet the product.

How personalization works at Ink Hug

We keep personalization simple on purpose. There is no design app to learn and no editor to wrestle with on a phone. Instead:

  1. You choose the product, the size and the style, and add it to your cart.
  2. At checkout, you write the names, dates and wording in the Order notes box, exactly as they should be printed. For photos, you paste a share link that opens without a login, or write “photo by email” and send the file to us with your order number.
  3. We read your notes, set up the print, print the piece, check it against your notes and ship it within 1–3 business days.

We do not send a proof or mockup before printing. That is a deliberate trade-off: it keeps orders moving quickly and avoids gifts waiting days for an approval email. In return, we give you a 24-hour window to change anything after ordering, and a 60-day return window if the result is not what you hoped for, including when the mistake was a typo in the notes. Details are on our Cancel or Change an Order and Returns & Exchanges pages.

What we check before shipping

Before a parcel leaves us, we compare the finished piece with your order notes. We look at the spelling and order of names, the date format, which photo went on which item, the orientation of the print, and the basic construction: seams closed, zippers running, blanket edges finished. If something does not match, we fix it before it ships. If your photo link does not open, or a photo looks too small for the size you chose, we pause and email you instead of guessing.

Where we ship and how long it takes

We deliver to four countries: the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Shipping is free to all of them, with no minimum order. Every order ships from the USA.

Pillow or blanket? How to decide

The question we hear most often is whether a pillow or a blanket makes the better gift. There is no wrong answer, but a few things usually settle it.

Getting your photo ready

Most print questions come down to the photo. A few minutes of preparation makes a visible difference on fabric:

  • Use the original photo from the phone or camera, not a screenshot or a version saved from a chat app, which is often reduced in size.
  • Choose daylight photos where faces are sharp. Dark indoor photos tend to print darker on fabric than they look on a bright screen.
  • Keep the important part near the middle. Photos are cropped to the shape of the product, and edges are the first thing to go.
  • For old printed photos, photograph them flat in daylight, without glare from a window or a flash, or use a scanner.
  • For collages, choose photos with similar brightness so no single picture looks out of place.

If you are unsure whether a photo will print well, email it to us before ordering and we will tell you honestly.

Our promises to you

We would rather promise a few things we can keep than a long list we cannot. These are the commitments behind every Ink Hug order:

  • 60-day returns for any reason. Even though every piece is personalized, you can return it within 60 days of delivery, including for a change of mind.
  • Free return postage. We email you a prepaid return label, for faults and for change-of-mind returns alike.
  • Refunds within 7 days of receiving your return, to your original payment method. See the Refund Policy.
  • Store credit that never expires, if you prefer credit to a refund.
  • Changes or cancellation within 24 hours of ordering, free of charge.
  • An email reply within 24 hours on business days, from a person who has read your message.
  • Your photos deleted 30 days after delivery. We keep them long enough to handle a reprint, then remove them. More in our Privacy Policy.

What we do not claim

Honesty matters more when you are buying something you cannot touch first. So, plainly:

  • We do not show star ratings, review counts or customer numbers that we cannot back up. When product reviews appear on our site, they come only from verified buyers.
  • We do not use countdown timers or “only a few left” messages. Our pieces are printed to order.
  • We do not claim awards, certifications or a long company history. Ink Hug is a small online shop.
  • We describe where orders ship from, the USA, and we do not make other claims about origin.
  • We only show payment logos for payment methods that are actually connected and working at checkout. See Payment Methods.

Choosing a gift: a few ideas

If you are not sure where to start, these are the kinds of orders we see most often, and why they work:

  • A grandparent’s photo blanket. A sherpa blanket with a collage of the grandchildren, one photo from each family, for a 70th birthday. It gets used every evening, not stored in a cupboard.
  • A wedding-date pillow. Two first names and the date, written the way the couple writes it, for an anniversary or a wedding gift.
  • A new-baby name pillow cover. A cover with the baby’s name and birth date for the nursery chair. Covers are easy to wash, which new parents appreciate.
  • A pet portrait pillow. One sharp, daylight photo of a dog or cat, with the name underneath. Many people order a second one for a family member.
  • A memorial keepsake. A favorite photo of someone who has passed, with their name and dates, for a family member who misses them.
  • A long-distance friendship gift. A fleece throw with a few photos from years of friendship, sent straight to a friend in another country.

Our Size Guide helps you choose a size for a sofa, a bed or an armchair, and our FAQs answer the common questions about photos and wording.

Caring for your pillow or blanket

Printed textiles last longest with gentle care. Wash pillow covers and blankets cold on a gentle cycle, inside out where possible, and tumble dry low or dry flat. Skip bleach and fabric softener, and avoid ironing directly on the printed side. Full pillows with inserts are best spot-cleaned; if the cover comes off, wash the cover on its own. Shake sherpa backing gently after drying to keep it fluffy.

Printed colors can shift slightly between screens and fabric, and a heavy wash routine will soften any print over time. If a print fades or cracks early under normal care, tell us within our 60-day window and we will look at a reprint.

Your information and photos

The photos and names you send us are personal, and sometimes very private, such as a photo of a loved one who has died. We use them only to print your order and handle any reprint. We delete customer photos 30 days after delivery. We do not use your photos in our marketing, and we do not sell your information. Our Privacy Policy explains this in full.
