Privacy at a glance

  • Who we are: Ink Hug, 5498 W Pulley Lane, Herriman, UT 84096, US, operating inkhug.shop.
  • What we collect: what you give us to place and deliver an order, the personalization in your order notes (names, dates, photo links or files), and basic technical data from your visit.
  • Your photos: used only to print your order and handle any reprint, then deleted 30 days after delivery.
  • We never sell your personal information or use your photos in our marketing.
  • Your choices: ask to see, correct or delete your data by emailing support@inkhug.shop.

This Privacy Policy explains how Ink Hug collects, uses, stores and shares personal information when you visit inkhug.shop, place an order, or contact us. Personalized gifts involve more personal data than most shopping: names of children, wedding dates, photos of family members and sometimes photos of people who have passed away. We take that seriously, and we have written this policy to be read, not skimmed. If anything is unclear, email us and we will explain.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Ink Hug is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Our contact details are:

Email is our only support channel. We reply within 24 hours on business days, including to privacy requests.

Information collected automatically

When you browse inkhug.shop, our servers and the services that deliver the site record standard technical information: your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, the page that referred you, and the date and time. Our site uses cookies that are needed for the store to work, such as keeping items in your cart, remembering that you are logged in, and protecting checkout against abuse. Our content delivery and security provider may also set cookies or process technical data to protect the site from attacks.

Payment information

Payments are handled at checkout by the payment provider shown there. Card numbers and bank login details are entered with that provider, not stored by Ink Hug. We receive a confirmation that the payment succeeded, the amount, and limited details such as the payment method type. We will never ask you to email card numbers, passwords or one-time codes.

3. Your photos and personalization

This section applies to the names, dates, wording and photos you provide so we can personalize your pillow or blanket.

  • Purpose. We use them only to prepare the print for your order, to check the finished piece against your notes, and to handle a reprint, exchange or support question about that order.
  • Retention. Customer photos are deleted 30 days after delivery. The text in your order notes stays with your order record, because it is part of what you bought and we may need it for returns, refunds or accounting.
  • Share links. If you send a link to a photo stored with another service, we download the photo to print it. You can remove the share link once your order has shipped.
  • No marketing use. We do not use your photos, your names or your messages in advertising, on social media or on our website.
  • Other people in your photos. By sending a photo, you confirm that you are entitled to use it for a personal gift. Please think about the people in it, especially children, and only send what you are comfortable having printed.
  • Sensitive situations. Memorial orders sometimes include health or family details in the wording. We treat everything in the notes as confidential and only use it to fulfill your order.

If you want your photos deleted sooner, for example straight after the parcel arrives and you are happy with it, email us and we will delete them on request.

4. How we use your information

  1. To fulfill your order: confirming it, printing it, shipping it, sending tracking information and handling returns, refunds and exchanges.
  2. To communicate with you: answering emails, telling you about a problem with a photo link or an address, and confirming changes.
  3. To run the store: keeping accounts and records required by law, preventing fraud, and keeping the website secure and working.
  4. To improve the store: understanding which pages are useful, using aggregated technical data that does not identify you.
  5. To send marketing, only with consent: if we offer a newsletter, you will only receive it if you opt in, and every message will include a way to unsubscribe.

Legal bases

Where privacy laws require a legal basis, we rely on: performance of a contract (to process and deliver your order), legitimate interests (to keep the site secure, prevent fraud and improve our service in ways you would reasonably expect), legal obligation (to keep tax and accounting records), and consent (for optional marketing and any non-essential cookies).

5. Who we share information with

We share only what each party needs to do its job for us. We do not sell or rent personal information.

For parcels to Canada, Australia and New Zealand, customs authorities in the destination country receive the information on the parcel declaration, such as the recipient’s name and address, a description of the goods and their value.

6. International transfers

Ink Hug is based in the United States and ships from the USA. If you are in Canada, Australia or New Zealand, your information will be processed in the United States and possibly in other countries where our service providers operate. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from yours. We choose providers who protect personal information appropriately and only share what is needed.

7. How long we keep information

Order records, including order notes textAs long as needed for returns, refunds, accounting and tax law

8. Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential cookies so that the cart, checkout and account features work, and so that the site stays secure. These cannot be switched off without breaking the store. If we add analytics or advertising cookies in future, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; if you block essential cookies, the cart and checkout may stop working.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information, subject to records we must keep by law;
  • object to or restrict certain uses, or withdraw consent to marketing at any time;
  • ask us to transfer your information to you or another provider in a usable format;
  • complain to a privacy regulator in your country.

We offer these choices to every customer, wherever they live. To make a request, email support@inkhug.shop with the subject “Privacy request” from the email address on your order or account. We may ask for an order number to confirm your identity before acting, so that nobody else can access your information. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.

California and other US state residents

Some US states give residents specific rights, such as the right to know, delete and correct personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. Ink Hug does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can still make any of the requests above, and you may use an authorized agent if your state allows it.

Canada, Australia and New Zealand

If you are in Canada, Australia or New Zealand, you can ask to access and correct your personal information and to know how it has been used and shared. You can also complain to the privacy regulator in your country if you are not satisfied with our answer, though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

10. Children’s privacy

Our store is intended for adults who are buying gifts. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Children’s names and photos may appear in orders placed by adults, as personalization for a gift; we handle that information under section 3 and delete photos 30 days after delivery. If you believe a child has given us personal information directly, email us and we will delete it.

11. Security

Our site uses HTTPS encryption for every page. Access to order information is limited to the people and services that need it to fulfill and support orders. Payment details are handled by the payment provider at checkout. No system is perfectly secure, so if you suspect someone has accessed your account, change your password and email us straight away. If we ever learn of a breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires.

12. Emails we send you

Most emails from Ink Hug are transactional: your order confirmation, a question about your order notes, a shipping notice with tracking, a return label, and confirmation of a refund or store credit. These are part of fulfilling your order, so they are sent whether or not you have agreed to marketing. They come from our store address and never ask you for passwords or card details.

If you receive an email that claims to be from Ink Hug and asks you to pay through a link outside our checkout, to confirm card details, or to send money by gift card or transfer, do not respond. Forward it to support@inkhug.shop and delete it. We will only ever direct you to pay through checkout on inkhug.shop.

Gift recipients

When you send a gift, we receive the recipient’s name and address from you. We use them only to deliver that parcel and, if needed, to handle a return. We do not email recipients marketing and do not add them to any list. If you are a recipient and want us to delete your details after delivery, email us and we will do so, subject to records the buyer’s order requires.

13. Reviews

Only verified buyers can leave a product review. If you post one, your first name or chosen display name, the review text and the date may be shown publicly. Please do not include personal details, such as full names or photos of other people, in a review. You can ask us to remove your review at any time.

14. Links to other sites

Our pages may link to other websites, such as a carrier’s tracking page. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle information. Read their policies before sharing anything with them.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services or the law change. The date at the top shows the latest version. If we make a significant change in how we use personal information, we will make it clear on this page before it takes effect, and where required we will ask for your consent.

16. Contact and related pages
